We take your safety seriously.
You're letting someone into your home, or trusting them with your children, pets or paperwork. That's why not just anyone can become a Toppi.
How someone becomes a Toppi
Every Toppi goes through the same process before they get any work:
1.Application
The person applies and tells us about their experience and skills.
2.Phone interview
We talk to every applicant personally about their experience and the work they want to do.
3.ID checked
We confirm who the person is using their ID document.
4.Address confirmed
Every Toppi lives here in the area, and we have their address on record. We know our Toppis — like you know your neighbours.
5.Police clearance for work with children
Toppis who give classes or lessons to children must also have a valid police clearance certificate — retired teachers included. Until it arrives, they only give lessons to adults.
6.Approved
Only once all these steps are done does someone become a Toppi and start receiving work.
Lessons for children: extra rules
Working with children needs extra care. These rules apply to every lesson with a child:
- 1.A parent or guardian must be home for the whole lesson. If no adult is home, the Toppi won't start the lesson.
- 2.Lessons take place in a shared, open space such as the lounge or dining room — never in a bedroom or behind a closed door.
- 3.The Toppi is never alone with the child.
- 4.The Toppi doesn't transport children or meet them outside booked lessons.
- 5.All contact goes through the parent — no direct phone or social-media contact with the child.
- 6.Any concern is reported immediately. A breach means permanent removal, and where needed we involve the police.
How else we protect you
Safe payment
Your money is held by a registered escrow service and only paid to the Toppi once the job is done.
Your details stay private
The Toppi only gets your address and number once the booking is paid, and may only use them for that job.
Toppis work within their skills
Toppis only do work they're competent for, and not work that needs a certified tradesperson.
If something goes wrong
- •Let us know straight away on WhatsApp or by email. We investigate every complaint.
- •While we look into a problem, your payment stays held.
- •Dishonesty, theft, unsafe or rude behaviour, or repeated poor work leads to a Toppi being suspended or permanently removed.
- •In serious incidents, we cooperate fully with the police.
Tips for your safety
- Where possible, be home or arrange for an adult to be home.
- Lock away valuables.
- Only pay through Toppi — never in cash or directly to the Toppi — so you're protected.
- If something doesn't feel right, contact us.
For Toppis
Your safety matters just as much. You can decline any job, and if you ever feel unsafe, you may stop the work and let us know.
